Progresso Soup Package - CLOSED

Wohoo it's giveaway time once again. I am very excited to bring you a chance to win a package from Progresso soup....if this little bowl doesn't get you excited well then I just can't help you! The package will include 2 soups...a digital jump rope...the above featured bowl and JOY. Well ok, the joy you actually have to provide, but that should be pretty easy.
These waistline friendly soups range in variety:
Italian-Style Meatball
Savory Vegetable barely
Beef Pot Roast
Traditional Chicken and Dumplings

Soup it’s supposed to be a dieters best friend…I keep hearing this from all the current “How to keep your New Years resolutions stories.” All right I’m game; I wouldn’t mind knocking off a few lbs. So when I received a free package of soups from Progresso (look for a chance to win yours below), I was off to the races with a daily soup for lunch plan. DSCN1384BUT then I looked at the sodium content and thought this might be better for a few times a week. Now in all fairness each can is 2 servings, so if I only ate one serving at 600 mg that wouldn’t be a problem…but when I can eat a can of chicken barely soup as a 160 calorie lunch…I’m eating the whole thing!! A couple times a week this sodium won’t bother me because I don’t have cholesterol or heart issues, but other days I know I’ll be getting my fill from other places…heck a slice of bread has 200mg!

The American Heart Association recommends no more than 2,400 milligrams of sodium per day” and they state you only need about 500 milligrams for body function. I do believe the number is higher for those doing high intensity workouts due to sweating.

So I started off with the Italian Style Vegetable (perfect for a rainy day) and fixed up the Beef Pot Roast Soup for David. We were both FULLY satisfied and in love with the taste…we enjoyed it with a little rye bread and umm maybe a jelly bean or two for dessert…I know and I was worried about sodium?!
DSCN1385Now let's move on to how friggin cool is this cup/bowl? Are all people obsessed with fun new bowls? I think the answer is yes based on what I see on other blogs (Ehh Hem PBJenny). Anyhow I thought it was very exciting to see such a WIDE variety of soups that are all 100 cals or less and many filled with veggies which always makes me happy.

Progresso is also having a fun contest to win a shopping spree in New York. You can find details and coupons on Progressosoup.com/SouperYou…except totally don’t enter because I want to win ;)

What do you think: Is soup a good weight loss tool? Do you check sodium contents with choosing soups?

I didn't see the giveaway, count me in!! I love soup..I don't necessarily use it "to lose weight"..but it is a great way for me to get my water, veggies, and beans in a hearty mix! And yes..sodium is the biggest thing I look at when buying soup!

I follow you already, by the way!

I'm leaving a comment, even if it isn't a smart or cute one - it's still a comment.

I love soup and Progresso is especially good for canned soup. A hot cowl of soup on a cold winter day is AWESOME. I do agree with you about the sodium content though. Progresso is doing a great job with marketing healthier options and there are more choices than ever before.

So here's my comment, although not that witty and I am already a follower :-) I will go link to this great giveaway now.

Have an awesome day.

When I was back home in WI for winter break I had so much of Progreeso. I love the hearty chicken noodle. I've tried the beef pot roast and chicken dumpling. I would love to try the other kinds too.

I'm a follower too :)

Soup is great for weight loss! You feel full, but don't take in a lot of calories! And I definitely check out the sodium content - most Americans get way more sodium than they should! Thanks for the giveaway! :)

I'm entering the giveaway, so here's my comment! I buy Progresso soup quite regularly, and I have a new post on my blog about soup, linked back to your blog.

I usually prefer to buy the reduced sodium soups, to avoid getting too much salt, but not 100% of the time. If I have a serving of higher sodium soup, I try not consume anything else really high in sodium during the same day.

i use soup as my "fast food" replacement. it might not be the best choice out there, but it works well in a pinch

Love progresso soups!

Progresso's soups are wonderful, but you do have to watch out for those serving sizes! I was very apt to eat entire cans of soup when I was younger ;)

I already follow you on Twitter, but I've linked back to you in my latest post!

Awesome giveaway! Love the soup bowl. Yummy!

I try not to eat canned soups more than once or twice a week.... the sodium makes me retain water and I end up feeling bloated. Still, I think it can be a healthy part of a balanced diet in moderation.

It's so cold these days, nothing warms me up aside from a hot bowl of soup. :)
