Mix1 Life Giveaway - CLOSED

Winner - J from Morning Runner

Post run I know that I need to refuel and during the winter this ain't no thang, I am ready to eat before I even finish running! But with the higher temps I find that I'm not quite to quick to hoover up a bowl of oats...so I was pretty excited when Mix1 sent me some drinks to try out.I have to admit, I really assumed it would be sort of a sports drink and so I was a little unsure about the 200 calories...but no it's really thicker like a shake, plus it's ALL NATURAL which was another sticking point for me. Before I agreed to do the review I checked them out because I needed to know what was in this drink. All the nutrition books I've been reading lately have talked about how why protein is one of the mostly easily absorbed by our bodies so this is a great recovery drink and I really like it after a P90X session to ensure that I know my body is getting the most benefit from the workout.

Plus it contains EVOO...right?! I know sounds weird, but you totally don't know it's there so you are getting a healthy source of fat when you need it.

On days where I want even more goodness, I have used it in my Green Monster instead of almond milk or yogurt and that's fun too!Buy it: 12 bottles for $25 from Amazon.com or find a store near you

I'm not very creative with my post workout smoothies. They are usually just milk, muscle milk powder and whatever fruit I have on hand. Still yummy tho!

I drink a smoothie with banana, mixed berries, hemp protein powder and I use either rice or hemp milk. If I had some spinach every day I would put that in it too!!

I usually make smoothies with frozen fruit, almond or skim milk, and spinach. I don't add protein, but that would probably make them better post-workout smoothies.

I've made a few with cocoa, banana, PB green smoothie... sometimes cherries instead of banana. I don't drink them very often, it's never warm enough where I live to want smoothies all the time!

Christa said...

found out about the contest from your tweets and I read your blog everyday :)

After running, I like a really watery icey smoothie. I don't want it to be chunky or too substantial. I want something to cool me off and replenish fluid so it' usually ice cubes, berries and juice. NO dairy, ew! That is for breakfast!

Not too big on smoothies after running, but usually if my husband makes them they are yogurt, banana, ice, and frozen berries (strawberry or mixed). I should probably buy him some protein powder...

I don't know that it's the "best", but it's the easiest for me because I go to my store and they make it for me.
Starbucks Strawberry Smoothie, no banana, nonfat milk, 3 scoops protein/fiber, upside down, light ice.
