While August is now here, the summer heat may last until well in to November for many of us depending upon what the weather chooses to do this year! In honor of that and of course my birthday it's time for another giveaway!

I've also long talked about my belief that we all need to be better at protecting our skin, so in conjuction with the SaltStick tablets to support your runs, there is SCAPE sport sunscreen and a UV Skinz top.

The ONLY way I have survived this summer is by utilizing the *ACK* treadmill for my weeknight runs, and by sacrificing my Friday nights so I can get up and at 'em super early Saturday morning for the weekend runs.

I think staying hydrated is the key.
Also making sure that someone knows about how long you will be out and what route you will be on just in case you have problems with the heat someone knows to worry about you!

I have to say, Salt Stick has been a life saver for me this summer and definitely my best "trick" or advice. I have shared it with sooo many people and most of my training group is not hooked!

My best tip (other than avoiding the heat as much as you can) is to slow your pace. Hard efforts in the heat are just a recipe for disaster.

My best tip for summer training is to try to run with someone else. It gets into the upper 90s here, with sky high humidity. Heat strokes are really a danger... so when I run outside in the summer, I try to get one of my runner friends to go with me :).

EARLY mornings! Before the sun comes up is when I get out there when it is deathly hot. I wear a reflective vest for safety.

I don't have any new advice other than run early and hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. If you can't run early, then try to pick routes with lots of shade and even sprinklers on the way.

The only way to beat the heat is to literally beat it. I mean, get up before the sun rises and the heat really rears it's ugly head.

The best thing for summer is to run early.

my best tip for summer training is: a) go far up the hill where it's lovely and cool and run there. And b) think about cross training - a bike ride or a swim might be more refreshing.

Summer training - adjust your goals so you aren't discouraged by your slower times.

Maintain a state of hydration.

Run early in the morning or late at night.
